Colstrip Water

These are actual live images of the filters at the Colstrip Water Treatment Plant. These filters are responsible for treating our water. The water that you see is the raw water from the lake with the addition of coagulants (Aluminum Chlorhydrate) and a non-ionic polymer. Potassium Permanganate is also added to help remove taste and odor. This can sometimes give the untreated water a pink color. The water flows down through the filters and the treated water enters the clearwell. This finished water is then disinfected and delivered to our storage reservoirs that are located around town.
