Power Road Overpass Update

The city’s engineer, Kadrmas Lee & Jackson and SK Geotechnical were in Colstrip on August 25, 2010 to inspect the structure.  The structural bridge engineer said the actual concrete structure, beams, piling, and abutments are fine.  The problem is behind the east bridge abutment.  The sub-grade that was used to build the road surface failed.  Core samples were taken August 27, 2010 and the city is waiting for these results to determine the depth needing to be dug, the proper materials to be used, and compaction so this issue will not happen again.  This process will take approximately four to six weeks before it is reopened.  If you have any further questions please call 748-2300 ext. 5.
